redneckotaku: Wondering about 2007 Worldcon Program Books

I was unable to attend last year's Worldcon. I did notice that all of the remaining program books were sent out about two weeks ago. I have yet to see mine. Does anybody know whether I should be looking for mine or Whether It is still a few weeks before I will see mine. I really want to see last year's Worldcon program book.

Funny timing -- I got mine today. But since I sold my membership as a transfer, I didn't expect to see one.

I seem to recall reading that they were mailed out not too long ago, but I don't remember how long it was.

I got mine last week, in an envelope that looked like it had gone through the Fifth World War. Why whoever sent it thought a flimsy envelope would be strong enough to withstand the "tender mercies" of USPS media mail escapes me. It's a wonder my book wasn't ruined.

The non-USA/non-Japan ones were sent during the Con itself in light envelopes. Some survived the rigors of international sea-mail better than others.

This may be true. However, I did refer to USPS media mail. (I live reside in California.)

No, I did not notice the postmark on what was left of the envelope, so I don't know from where it was sent. But taking what you said as accurate, because I did not attend the con (not for lack of desire), and I reside in the US, this would mean that my book was not sent from Japan.

My original point still stands: "Why whoever sent it thought a flimsy envelope would be strong enough to withstand the "tender mercies" of USPS media mail escapes me. It's a wonder my book wasn't ruined." (Emphasis added.)

I was merely providing the data point that it sounds like the same envelopes were used for all. I don't intend to postulate whether USPS is any more violent to packages than other mail carriers.
